Srinagar, Aug 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet in a bribery case against Fayaz-ud-din Shora, the then Naazir (Senior Assistant) at Tehsil Office Khag, Budgam. The case (FIR No. 14/2023) was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar.
According to officials, the FIR was lodged on August 3, 2023, following a written complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹2,000 for listing an under-trial property dispute before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Khag. Acting swiftly, the ACB laid a trap, catching Shora red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered on the spot, and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on his hands.
The investigation, supported by substantial documentary and witness evidence, confirmed the commission of the offence by the accused. After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the government, the ACB presented the chargesheet before the Court of the Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge, Srinagar, for judicial determination.
The matter has been listed for the next hearing on September 24, 2025.
