Srinagar:In a solemn yet proud moment, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, handed over an appointment letter on compassionate grounds to Syed Nazakat Shah, brother of the late Syed Adil Hussain, who laid down his life during the Pahalgam terror attack while saving innocent lives.

The appointment, facilitated by the Waqf Board, comes as a mark of recognition for the martyr’s extraordinary courage and a step toward supporting his bereaved family. In a heartfelt ceremony, the Board also posthumously conferred a Bravery Award upon Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain, honoring his selfless act that saved numerous lives during the deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

Dr Andrabi, joined by BJP J&K leaders including President Sat Sharma, General Secretary Ashok Koul, Shri Vibodh Gupta, MLA Dr Maniyal, and Sofi Yousuf, emphasized the need for tangible support for families of martyrs. “Mere lip service doesn’t suffice. As a people’s Board, we felt it was our duty to not only honor the martyr but also provide his family with financial and emotional strength,” she stated.

BJP leaders praised the Waqf Board’s initiative, describing it as a noble gesture and an example for others to follow. Overcome with emotion, Syed Nazakat Shah expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Board and Dr Andrabi for standing by his family in a time of immense grief.
