GANDERBAL, January 13:A Joint Security Review Meeting of tourist places falling under the Central Kashmir Range (CKR) was held today at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office (DPO), Ganderbal, to review and strengthen security arrangements at key tourist destinations.
The meeting was jointly chaired by DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Omprakash Pande, IPS, and Army Commander, 3-Sector, Shri Hemant Singh Panwar. Senior officers present included DIG CRPF Shri Sudhir Kumar, SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal, JKPS, SP Cargo Srinagar Shri Tanveer Ahmad, along with other senior officials from the Army, Intelligence Agencies, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
A comprehensive and threadbare discussion was held on the prevailing security scenario, with special focus on ensuring the safety and security of tourist destinations, particularly in view of the ongoing inclement weather conditions. Various measures aimed at confidence-building among tourists and maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment were deliberated in detail.
The meeting also reviewed security arrangements in the run-up to Republic Day–2026. Directions were issued to further strengthen the security grid, enhance inter-agency coordination, and ensure effective and visible deployment of forces at vulnerable locations.
The chair emphasized the need for high alertness, proactive intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses to effectively counter any emerging challenges, with the overarching objective of safeguarding peace, public order, and the safety of visitors and locals alike.
The general public has been urged to cooperate with the security forces in the interest of collective safety and to promptly share any information related to suspicious activities or anti-national elements that may disturb peace and tranquillity in the region.
