Anantnag, April 03: Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, today inaugurated a state-of-the-art MRI Unit at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, marking a major milestone in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in South Kashmir.

With the installation of the advanced MRI machine, GMC Anantnag has become the first among the newly established medical colleges in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to receive such a facility. The MRI unit, which fulfills a long-pending demand of the people of South Kashmir, will be made operational soon and will significantly improve diagnostic services for patients across the region.

On the occasion, the Health Minister also dedicated three modular operation theatres and a highly advanced vitrectomy machine for specialized eye surgeries, further enhancing the treatment facilities available at the institution.

Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, congratulated the people of South Kashmir and the Pir Panjal region on the addition of these advanced medical facilities at their doorstep. She expressed gratitude to the government for its continuous support in strengthening GMC Anantnag to meet the healthcare needs and expectations of the people of South Kashmir, Pir Panjal and beyond.

The inauguration of these facilities is expected to greatly benefit patients by providing advanced diagnostic and surgical services locally, reducing the need for referrals to other hospitals outside the region.
