Ganderbal 23 Dec:In a proactive step towards strengthening gender-sensitive policing and effectively addressing crimes against women, Ganderbal Police on Monday organised a one-day seminar on “Gender Sensitisation and Crimes Against Women” at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office (DPO), Ganderbal.
The seminar was chaired by SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS) and was attended by senior officers from various police units across the district.
During the seminar, participants held detailed deliberations on various forms of crimes against women, including rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment, dowry-related deaths, kidnapping, and cyber crimes.
The discussions focused on understanding the dynamics of such offences, strengthening preventive measures, ensuring prompt registration and effective investigation of cases, and adopting a victim-centric, sensitive, and legally compliant approach.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Khalil Ahmad Poswal underscored the critical importance of gender sensitisation within the police force and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women. He directed officers to take timely, firm, and effective action against offenders and emphasised the need for empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism while dealing with women victims.
The SSP further highlighted the significance of public awareness, community participation, inter-departmental coordination, and regular monitoring as key components in preventing crimes against women and ensuring their safety, dignity, and access to justice.
Ganderbal Police reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a safe, secure, and respectful environment for women, and to delivering justice through effective, responsive, and accountable policing across the district.
