Srinagar, Mar 27 : Police have solved two theft cases in Awantipora area of Pulwama district and arrested two accused persons, officials said on Friday.
The cases were registered under FIR Nos. 62/2026 and 67/2026 at Police Station Awantipora.
During investigation, a police team led by SHO Awantipora, Inspector Aijaz Ahmad, used technical evidence, including CCTV footage analysis, to identify and apprehend the accused, they said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohd Lateef Pathan, a resident of Khansahib in Budgam, and Sahil Nissar Sheikh of Qamarwari.
During questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crimes, officials said, adding that stolen property, including two calves and cash amounting to Rs 1.3 lakh, has been recovered.
Police said another accused, identified as Waseem Sheikh, is absconding and efforts are underway to arrest him.
Two vehicles allegedly used in the commission of the crime an auto and a Tata 207 have also been seized.
Officials said Pathan is a habitual offender with over 18 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the Valley.
Further investigation is underway and more arrests and recoveries are expected, police said.
