Ganderbal | February 25, 2026:In a sustained and proactive crackdown on illegal mining activities, Ganderbal Police has seized eight vehicles involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minor minerals across the district.
The seized vehicles include 05 tractors and 03 tippers, which were found transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without the requisite permissions.
Acting swiftly and in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, police teams from various stations intercepted and seized the vehicles on the spot, intensifying efforts to curb illegal mineral transportation in the area.
Officials stated that illegal extraction not only results in significant loss to the public exchequer but also poses a grave threat to the ecological balance of the region. Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding natural resources, Ganderbal Police affirmed that stringent legal action will continue against individuals involved in unlawful extraction, transportation, or trade of minerals.
The offenders have been strictly warned to desist from such illegal activities, with authorities maintaining heightened vigilance across the district.
