Ganderbal, Jan 20:Authorities on Tuesday conducted an inspection of street and roadside food vendors at the tourist resort of Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for consumers and tourists.
The inspection was carried out by the Food Safety Officer (FSO) Kangan on the directions of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kangan Nazir Ahmad Bhat (JKAS), an official told Kashmir News Zone.
Vendors engaged in the preparation of ready-to-serve food items were directed to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation as mandated under Schedule-4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act), 2006.
All street vendors have been asked to obtain registration under the FSS Act within three days, failing which legal action will be initiated in the competent court of law, the official said.
