Ganderbal 04 Feb :In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, intensified efforts of Ganderbal Police to combat illegal mining activities in the district has led to the seizure of 22 vehicles involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in the month of January 2025.
The drive was conducted for the period of one month in various PS/PP areas of the district and the seizures were made throughout the district.
This proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by district Police Ganderbal along with the Geology and Mining Department thereby ensuring the individuals involved in such illegal activities are legally prosecuted.
These seizures highlight the commitment of Ganderbal Police towards ensuring proper action against these violators.
Moreover, FIRs No.s 02 and 03 of 2025, MMRD Act under relevant sections of law were registered at PS Kheerbawani and PS Lar against the persons involved in these unlawful practices.
Ganderbal Police requests community members to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood.
