Ganderbal, Feb 26 : Police have seized six more vehicles allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Thursday.
The vehicles five tractors and one tipper were intercepted in the jurisdictions of Kangan and Lar police stations while transporting material extracted without permission from Nallah Sindh, they said.
The action was carried out by police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department as part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining in the district.
Officials said illegal extraction results in revenue loss to the government and poses a threat to ecological balance, adding that strict action will continue against violators.
